The Color Report, Pt. 2

Two more tantalizing tones!

Aaaand we’re back with the last two tones of the season! These two look awfully sweet at first glance, but interesting materials, silhouettes, and details are making them feel exciting and new—edgy even?

Blush and Bashful

Remember the part of Steel Magnolias when Shelby’s telling the ladies at Truvy’s hair salon about her wedding, and she says, “Mah cullers are bluuuush and bashful,” and her mom says, “Her colors are PINK and PINK!” I think about that a lot.

Anyway, blush and bashful for all this year! Love it as a color for outerwear and jackets. Also great for accessories. I’m looking forward to fixing my grandma’s perfect baby pink Ferragamos to wear asap. The heel protector disintegrated while I was trying to be normal with a group of moms at our kids’ swim lesson. The shoes are at least 40 years old, so I can’t be too mad at them for embarrassing me!

Icy Blue

Has a color ever personally shamed you? I feel like this blue is so perfect and refined that it’s kind of a bully. Stop being so beautiful! It’s one of the most versatile tones of the season and looks good on everything from techy outerwear to diaphanous gowns.

It’s ironic, but I have the most drab outfit on as I’m writing this piece, and talking tones is making me excited to be more intentional about the colors I’m wearing. Let’s just say I may be all redded up tomorrow. I hope you’re inspired to play with tones, too!
